Step into the joyful world of A Jar of Pickles, a stationery and accessories business founded by Kirstie Wang. Known for their playful products that inspire endless celebration, each item is lovingly designed by Kirstie and is shipped out by a small team from her California-based studio.

When Kirstie reached out to me for a website redesign, it was clear that her DIY website was no longer doing justice to their unique brand identity. her business had experienced remarkable growth in recent years, outpacing her existing online presence.

Through our project, we breathed new life into her Shopify store creating custom sections and designs that effortlessly capture the brand’s playful and minimalist essence. The end result is an improved user experience that makes browsing for their delightful products a breeze and received positive reviews from their customers.

When A Jar of Pickles started working with us, they were looking for:

- Navigation improvement: With over 350+ SKUs, they need a better filtering and sorting system to make it easier for their customers to browse through their products
- More robust Collections and Product page templates that would clearly indicate product features and labels that would help guide customers.
- Custom sections that reflect the brand story and help connect with their audience. Kirstie has grown a tight-knit community with her followers on Instagram and wanted to reflect that on the website

THE OUTCOME

The homepage hero section was custom designed and developed to showcase the variety of products that are available in the store. Fun brand elements such as the wave icons, confetti were added to make A Jar of Pickles’ identity shines.
Given the high number of SKUs, we were able to highlight featured product collections by using on-brand playful graphics and images with this custom developed section.
The product page has a clean and minimalist look & feel. We added the custom branded labels to highlight products that are bestsellers, new arrivals or low in stock.
The browsing experience on the Collection pages was redesigned with a new easy-to-use filtering and sorting system. We also added in a custom ‘bundle & save’ banner that is linked to collection Shopify metafields, so that discounts and promotions can be easily updated.
We love how A Jar of Pickles’ unique brand story came to life through this custom About page that we designed and developed. Some unique brand elements that we incorporated are:

- A dynamic video in the hero section of their best-selling boba plushie
- Clickable timeline for Kirstie’s founder story
- Video carousel showing clips from the highly engaged IG account
- Brand elements and icons that bring the brand identity to life and set them apart from everyone else
